Here we are!
Our lives are a bit of chaos, and honestly, we wouldn't have it any other way! Being a wife, a mother to my favorite Wild Max, and a teacher to 20 energetic little 6 and 7 year olds takes time and energy. And probably more patience that I truly encompass. So, my key to keeping the balls in the air is making a sliver of time in the day for a little sweat session.
Three years ago, I found Crossfit--and it changed the way I always thought about exercise. I have always been active, but I had found myself secluded in a mommy-bubble in a mom-bod surrounded by Goldfish and fruit snacks and plus about 15 pounds. So, I hunkered down and joined a Crossfit Box. Loved.Every.Minute.of.it! After lots of work, attention to my diet, and figuring out this amazing world of AdvoCare, I became leaner and stronger than I have ever been. Ever. Forget the high school cheerleading days:)
Fast forward to today. Life happens. A lot of life happened for us, and I needed to put every ounce of attention that I had toward home. So, I became a Crossfit drop-out. I sulked a bit, and I missed my box and the internal competition that drives me. But, it (and the Good Lord) made me change my thinking. I had become infatuated with progress--my personal progress. And, I've had to come to terms with the fact that I will probably never, in fact, set a personal record of deadlifting 315 lbs. That bar with 185 lbs. on it? I will probably never be able to clean it again. And, I'm OK with that.
You see what drives me now is helping people make progress. I love to see that love/hate look on the hubby's face when he says, "Courtney, I CAN'T do that!"....to see a group of after-school teachers see a workout and think, "5 rounds?!?!" Everyday I watch them start and I see them finish...that is the progress that I love!
So, here's our box. Some days it's in our garage. Some days, I can create an obstacle course of crazy on our driveway. Our neighbors are either terrified or slightly entertained, but we now work out as a family. And, if you're like me, you love a challenge, you love to sneak in a daily workout, you need something more than a walk in the neighborhood, and you are on a schedule, you are my people! Make your own home box, and we'll do it together!
